How to get on Google’s first page in Morocco (2026 guide)

Ads, Google Maps or organic results: the three ways to reach Google’s first page, realistic timelines, free actions in the right order and a 30-day plan.

Quick answer: there are three ways to be on the first page of Google, with very different timelines and costs. Google Ads show up as soon as they are approved, for as long as you pay. A Google Business Profile (Google Maps) is free and often starts appearing in local searches within 2 to 8 weeks, if it is complete and receives reviews. Organic results are free too, but usually take 3 to 6 months of steady work: one page per service and per city, a fast mobile site, useful content and a few serious links. Nobody can guarantee the top spot.

“How do I get my website on the first page of Google?” Shop owners, clinics, restaurants and online stores ask us this often, in Agadir as well as in Casablanca. The short answer: it is possible, often without paying Google anything, but not in a week. Here are the possible placements, the real timelines, the free actions in the right order and the mistakes to avoid.

The three ways to appear on Google’s first page

When someone types “dentist Agadir” or “restaurant Maarif”, the first page mixes three types of results:

  • Google Ads, labelled “Sponsored”, at the top and sometimes at the bottom of the page. You pay for each click.
  • The Google Maps block, known as the “local pack”: a map and a few business listings with their reviews, opening hours and a call button. These listings come from Google Business Profile.
  • Organic results: links to websites, ranked by relevance. These spots cannot be bought; they are earned through search engine optimisation (SEO).
PlacementTime to appearCostHow long it lasts
Google AdsAs soon as the ads are approved, often the same dayPaid per click, plus management if you outsource itDisappears as soon as you stop the budget
Google Maps (Google Business Profile)Usually 2 to 8 weeks, with a complete profile and reviewsFreeLasting, as long as the profile stays active and keeps getting reviews
Organic results (SEO)3 to 6 months for the first gains on competitive searchesFree on Google’s side; costs time or a providerLasting: visits keep coming without paying for each click

For a neighbourhood shop, a clinic or a restaurant, the Google Maps listing is often the fastest and cheapest lever. For an online store, organic results and Google Ads matter most.

How long does it take, honestly?

What you are aiming forRealistic timeline
Showing up for your exact business nameA few days to a few weeks after the site is indexed and the profile verified
The Google Maps block for “your trade + your city”2 to 8 weeks, depending on competition and how steadily reviews come in
A specific, low-competition search (“air conditioner repair Dcheira”)Often 1 to 3 months
A broad, competitive search (“lawyer Casablanca”)3 to 6 months for the first gains, sometimes longer
Google AdsThe same day, for as long as the budget runs

Be wary of anyone who guarantees the top spot within days: shortcuts (buying links, fake reviews) often end up pushing the site down.

The free steps, in order

1. Add your site to Google Search Console

Search Console is the free tool that shows how Google sees your site. Add your domain, submit your sitemap (often at /sitemap.xml) and use “URL Inspection” to request indexing of your important pages. A page that is not indexed cannot appear anywhere on Google.

2. Build a complete Google Business Profile

On business.google.com, create or claim your profile, then verify it with the method Google offers (video, phone call or mail): this can take from a few days to a few weeks. Fill in everything: the exact primary category, secondary categories, opening hours (including Ramadan hours), phone number, service area, services, and real photos of the premises and the team. Keep your real trading name, with no added keywords. Our complete guide to local SEO in Morocco goes further.

3. Ask every satisfied customer for a review

Reviews matter for Google Maps and for the customer’s decision. Put your profile’s review link in a QR code at the counter and send it on WhatsApp after the service. Reply to every review, negative ones included, calmly. Offer nothing in return: Google’s rules prohibit incentivised reviews.

4. Pick the words your customers actually type

Nobody searches for “innovative solutions”. Your customers type “dentiste Agadir”, “pharmacie de garde Hay Mohammadi” or “location voiture aéroport Casablanca”. Start from your trade + your city or neighbourhood. Think about Arabic too (“طبيب أسنان أكادير”) and about Darija written in Latin letters, which some customers use. Google’s suggestions and the “People also ask” box show what people are looking for. Go for specific searches first; they are easier to win.

5. One page per service and per city

A single “Our services” page cannot rank for ten different searches. Create one page per important service (for a dentist: implants, whitening, orthodontics) and, if you work in several cities, one page per city with genuinely different content: address, service area, directions, local questions. Duplicating a page and only changing the city name does not work.

6. Get the title, meta description and H1 right

  • The title tag, the blue headline in Google: service and city first, around 60 characters. Example: “Dentiste à Agadir, Talborjt : implants et soins”.
  • The meta description: two sentences that make people want to click (what, where, how to reach you). Google sometimes rewrites it.
  • The H1: one main heading per page, matching the search you are targeting.

7. Write content that answers questions

Write down the questions your customers ask on the phone: indicative prices, lead times, parking, payment, delivery, warranty. Answer them on your pages and in an FAQ, in plain sentences. A page that answers better than the others is more likely to climb than a page that repeats the keyword.

8. A fast site on mobile

Most of your visitors arrive from a smartphone, and Google primarily evaluates the mobile version of your site. Test your pages with PageSpeed Insights (free), compress images and remove unnecessary plugins. Check that the phone number and the WhatsApp button are clickable.

9. Link your pages together

Internal links help Google understand which pages matter. From the homepage, link to each service; from a blog post, link to the relevant service page with descriptive text (“dental implant in Agadir” rather than “click here”).

10. Get mentioned elsewhere: directories, press, links

List your business in reputable Moroccan directories (Telecontact, Kerix, Kompass, directories for your profession) with exactly the same name, address and phone number everywhere. Then look for natural links: partners, professional associations, the chamber of commerce, local online press. A few links from real Moroccan websites are worth more than hundreds of bought links.

Free or paid: the real difference

Yes, you can get on the first page of Google for free: Search Console, Google Business Profile and organic results cost nothing on Google’s side. What it costs is time: a few hours a week for several months. Paying serves two different purposes:

  • Google Ads buys immediate visibility, per click. Useful for a launch, a season (summer in Agadir, Ramadan) or while SEO builds up. When you stop, the ads disappear.
  • An SEO provider brings time and experience to carry out the steps above faster and without mistakes. The work stays yours, but it still takes months.

Paying for Google Ads does not improve your organic ranking: they are two separate systems.

Mistakes that keep a site off page 1

  • Two websites for the same business. An old domain still online, or a copy of the site at another address, splits your chances. Redirect the old site to the new one with 301 redirects, page by page.
  • Keyword stuffing. Repeating “dentist Agadir” twenty times goes against Google’s rules.
  • Fake reviews. Google can remove them, then restrict or suspend the profile.
  • Buying links. “1,000 backlinks” packages break Google’s spam policies and can push the whole site down.
  • Pages in English only, or in French only when your customers also search in Arabic: you do not appear for searches your pages do not cover.
  • A slow WordPress theme, loaded with sliders and plugins, that displays poorly on a phone.
  • A site blocked without you knowing: the “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” box left ticked in WordPress, or a forgotten noindex tag.

Your 30-day plan

  1. Days 1 to 3: open Search Console, submit the sitemap, check that your main pages are indexed.
  2. Days 4 to 7: create or complete your Google Business Profile, start verification, add a dozen real photos.
  3. Week 2: list 10 to 20 “trade + city or neighbourhood” searches, in French and in Arabic, and assign each one to a page.
  4. Week 2: rewrite the title, meta description and H1 of your main pages.
  5. Week 3: create the missing service or city pages, each with an FAQ.
  6. Week 3: test mobile speed and fix the heaviest items.
  7. Week 4: set up the QR code and the WhatsApp message for reviews, and reply to existing reviews.
  8. Week 4: list your business in three to five Moroccan directories with identical details, and redirect any old domain.
  9. Day 30: note your starting impressions, clicks and positions to compare next month.

How to measure your progress in Search Console

Open the Performance report and display all four metrics:

  • Impressions: how many times one of your pages appeared in the results, even at the very bottom. This is the first number to move.
  • Average position: your average rank for a search. Going from 70 to 25 does not show up in visits yet, but it is real progress.
  • Clicks: visits coming from Google. They mostly grow once you reach the top ten results.
  • CTR: clicks divided by impressions. A low CTR at a good position often points to an unappealing title.

In the Queries tab, spot the searches where you already appear on pages 2 to 8: these are your best targets, and enriching the relevant page is often enough. For Google Maps, track calls and direction requests in your profile. Do not judge from a search on your own phone: results change with location.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my website on the first page of Google?

Get the site indexed in Search Console, create one page per service and per city with a clear title, answer your customers’ questions, make the site fast on mobile and earn a few links from serious Moroccan websites. On competitive searches, expect 3 to 6 months in general.

Can you get on the first page of Google for free?

Yes. Organic results and Google Business Profile cost nothing on Google’s side: the cost is your time. Only Google Ads are paid.

How do I appear first on Google quickly?

The fastest way is Google Ads: your ads show up as soon as they are approved, for as long as you pay. Next comes your Google Business Profile, which can appear on Google Maps within 2 to 8 weeks with reviews. Organic results take several months.

How do I get to the top of the Google page?

The very top is usually Google Ads, which are paid. In local searches, the Google Maps block often comes before the organic results: complete your Google Business Profile, choose the right category, add real photos and ask every satisfied customer for a review.

How long does it take to reach the first page of Google?

A few days to a few weeks for your business name, 2 to 8 weeks for Google Maps, 1 to 3 months for specific searches, and 3 to 6 months or more for competitive searches. Google Ads is immediate.

Can an agency guarantee the top spot on Google?

No. Google does not sell its organic results and guarantees no one a position. A “guaranteed number one” often hides bought links or fake reviews, which can get your site penalised.
